Maternity & Pregnancy Photographer in Toulon and the Var

Pregnancy is a brief, immense passage of time. A maternity photoshoot holds its light still: the curve, the waiting, the bond that already exists. As a pregnancy photographer in Toulon and across the Var, I photograph these suspended weeks in black and white, somewhere between documentary and fine art.

When is the right time for a pregnancy photoshoot?

The loveliest window for a maternity session falls between the 30th and 36th week. The bump is beautifully round, the tiredness of the final stretch hasn’t yet arrived, and you still move with ease. For a first pregnancy you might bring it forward a little; with twins, it’s wise to plan ahead.

It’s best to book your pregnancy shoot a few weeks in advance, so we have time to choose the setting and the light together. I answer every enquiry personally, and we settle on a date to suit your due date exactly.

Where to pose: the sea, the studio, or your home

The Var coastline offers a rare kind of light, long and soft towards the end of the day. A quiet cove between Saint-Mandrier and Giens, a beach at first light, a terrace open onto the Toulon harbour: the outdoors brings air and stillness to a maternity session.

The studio and the home have a beauty all their own. Light from a window, a length of linen, the half-dark of a bedroom are enough to tell something intimate. I photograph in Toulon just as readily as in Hyères, Sanary, Six-Fours, La Seyne and throughout the Var.

Why black and white for maternity

To take away the colour is to reach the essential: skin, light, the gesture of a hand resting on the bump. Black and white clears away the superfluous and leaves the emotion bare. These images age more gracefully; they become timeless.

It is also a way of protecting the intimate. A pregnancy portrait in black and white tells the story without ever betraying it — and that is what I look for in every session.

What you receive

Every session begins with a conversation and ends with a private online gallery. There you’ll find your images, choose your favourites and download them in high resolution. As an option, a signed fine-art print carries the moment onto your wall.

Frequently asked questions

What month should I book a maternity photoshoot?

Around the seventh or eighth month, roughly 30 to 36 weeks. The bump is nicely rounded and you’re still comfortable moving around.

Where do pregnancy sessions take place in the Var?

Outdoors along the coast (Toulon, Saint-Mandrier, Hyères, Sanary, Six-Fours), in the studio, or at your home. We choose the setting that feels like you, together.

Is the session in colour or in black and white?

My world is chiefly black and white, fine art and timeless. It’s what gives maternity images their emotion and their longevity.
